5 Reasons VIPKID Teachers Should Do Yoga

Are your muscles sore from sitting or standing at your desk for long periods of time? You are definitely not alone. I am a certified yoga instructor and I was using yoga to cure my aches and pains from sitting for long periods of time. I was mainly doing chair yoga in between classes and using those VIPKID “Preposition Yoga” slides to my full advantage. Here are 5 reason VIPKID teachers should do yoga.

1.We Need Movement

Sitting or standing in one place for long periods of time is hard on the body’s circulation. Your spine becomes compressed causing your nerves to be pinched. Not to mention gravity is pulling your 20 lb head towards the floor, causing your posture to go out of alignment. Yoga stretching and poses help correct your posture and relieve pressure. By creating stronger muscles so you can maintain a great posture for longer.

2. Better Sleep

I know that caught your attention. Struggling to get enough sleep is the number one issue I read about in the VIPKID community. 3. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Yoga is the practice of combining breath with movement. This helps you to improve your blood flow and intake of oxygen. When you are sitting and or standing and not taking full breathes your body goes into stress. Your body thinks it is in fight or flight. That is one of many reasons we feel exhausted from just being stationary.

4. Increases Focus

Yoga brings your attention within your body. Focusing on breath and your movements pushes all the distracting thoughts away. This calms your mind and body. You will become more present in your life. Yoga is healthy for your brain.

5. Yoga Makes You Happier

Have you ever noticed that yoga people seem happier? They don’t let too much bother them. Just one class of yoga can begin to reprogram your brain. Breathing makes you happier. Even your posture is related to your mood. The biochemical changes in your brain can have huge impacts on your mental and physical health.
